Ultrasonic attenuation models for the characterization of polycrystalline materials rely on the two-point correlation function (TPCF). The classical exponential TPCF is insufficient for materials with wide grain size distributions (GSDs) commonly found in industrial polycrystals. This paper evaluates three different TPCF models that explicitly incorporate GSD statistics. We compare the models proposed by Argüelles and Turner, Sha, and a new model. The models are validated against TPCFs estimated from synthetic microstructures with varying GSD widths. Attenuation predictions are then compared to numerical data.
